Istanbul Carpet Museum is located near the entrance of Topkapi Palace and attached to Hagia Sophia. The section was added to Hagia Sophia during the reign of the sultan Ahmed I and was designed by the architech Sedefkar Ahmed Aga who was also the architect of the Blue Mosque.
This was added as the sultan’s pavilion where the sultans used to enter the mosque to prayer. The section was converted into a museum where the priceless Turkish carpets are being exhibited.
62 pieces carpets are on display and being replaced with the other anytime. The oldest carpet which was made by the Turks is from 14th century.
