The Istanbul Naval Museum is located in Besiktas district of Istanbul and near by The Dolmabahce Palace. It is one of the first Turkish museums which was established by the Ottoman Minister Navy Hasan Husnu Pasha in 1897.
The museum houses the most remarkable artifacts pertaining to the Ottoman Navy. Around 20,000 pieces are on display in the museum. This is also the first military museum of Turkey.
The museum has also the imperial caiques, ship models and the pieces of the chain which was used by the Byzantines to block the Golden Horn against the Ottoman army during the siege.
