The naval city, Side, was founded by the Anatolian indigenous and spoke the local language, which was different from Greek. Side never passed the control of the Pergamene Kingdom. The city’s name means pomegranate, which locals are still growing. The site is situated by the Mediterranean Sea and most of the remaining dates back to 1-4C AD. On the Side, you will see; city walls dating back to 2C BC. The Necropolis is an ancient cemetery with many sarcophagi, mausoleums, and tombs, which are on display in the museum.
