HAGIA IRENE MUSEUM

The Holy Peace or Spiritual Peace is the meaning of the church. Hagia Irene is located in Topkapi Palace garden. It is one of the Roman churches that has never been converted into a mosque.

According to some Roman historians, the church was built by the Roman Emperor Constantine I. in the 4th century. The church was burnt down during the Nika Revolt. Emperor Justinian rebuilt the church. Today, the church is a museum, and some music or opera groups perform there on different days of the year.
