The district of Ozkonak is at an elevation of 1,350 m. above sea level, and is located 29 km. from Nevsehir, 50 km. From Nigde and 80 km. from Aksaray, in the bowl-shaped volcanic Misli Ovası between Mount Erciyes and Mount Hasan. The effects of erosion on the sandy soil of the district are potent. Ozkonak and its environs bear rich traces of the Hittite, Phrygian, Roman, and Byzantine eras.
