ISTANBUL ARCHEOLOGY MUSEUM

The Istanbul archaeological museum is the first museum in Turkey. It was founded by the first Turkish archeologist Osman Hamdi Bey in 1891.

He traveled all over the empire, excavated ancient cities, and collected the museum’s remains. The museum has many periodical exhibition rooms such as; pre-historic, neo-historic, paleolithic, Mesopotamia, Egyptian, Greek, Hittite, Trojan, Roman, Turkish, etc.

The building is located in Topkapi Palace garden ( Gülhane Park ).
