YENI (NEW) MOSQUE

Yeni Mosque was started by the Ottoman sultan Murad III’s wife Safiye Sultan in 1597 and completed by the Ottoman sultan Mehmed VI’s mother Turhan Hatice Sultan in 1665.

The Yeni Mosque is located in the Eminönü neighborhood of the Fatih district. The mosque is the last classical Ottoman architecture. And also Yeni Mosque is an imperial where the Ottoman sultan prayed on Friday. The mosque has two minarets, and one central dome of 16,20 meters. The mosque has given famous Spice Market.
