SULTANAHMET SQUARE

Sultanahmet Square is located at the heart of Istanbul where The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, the Hippodrome, Grand Bazaar, Gulhane Park, and many other historical buildings are located. When Istanbul (Constantinopolis) was the Romans’ and the Ottomans’ capital city, Sultanahmet Square was its center.

The square had witnessed many vistas, ceremonies, and glorious as well as revolts throughout history. Hagia Sophia’s construction, the first call to prayers from the Blue Mosque, the sultans’ access from the Topkapi Palace, and more things. Today, Sultanahmet Square is one of the most visited tourist and cultural spots in Turkey. And it is the access to history and the culture of history.
