KULELI MILITARY HIGH SCHOOL

It was established in 1845 with the name ‘Mektabi Fununu Idadiye’ at Macka, now Istanbul Technical University is located there. War began in 1878 between Russia and Ottoman Empire. Then, the school was converted into a hospital. During World War I, School was moved to Rum Orphanage on Buyukada for immigrants and orphans. The school became a civilian high school by “Tevhid-i Tedrisat” in 1924 and was renamed “Kuleli Lisesi” Kuleli High School. The school can be better seen from the Bosphorus.

Updated information in 2022: The school is still under construction for a new conversion into a museum.
